Which brands of women’s tops does Paddy Pallin stock?
Paddy Pallin only stocks top quality outdoor and travel clothing from brands we believe in. Our extensive range features clothing options from The North Face, Rab, Kuhl, Exofficio, Icebreaker, Patagonia, Mont, Marmot, Helly Hansen, Arc’teryx, Royal Robbins and 360 Degrees.
Are sun shirts with UV protection available at Paddy Pallin?
Staying sun-safe whilst outdoors is super important. Aside from wearing a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, layering up with clothing that protects you from harmful UV rays is another excellent way to be sun smart. All clothing and fabrics will have some level of UV protection, but some garments will also give a UPF rating, such as UPF 50. Look for garments with this advertised in the product description online, or on the swing-tag in-store. In general, all clothing will offer some amount of UV protection, especially garments that are constructed from a densely woven fabric. Usually tops sewn from synthetics and merino wool fall into this category. Opting for looser fitting tops, with high collars and long sleeves will provide added sun coverage too.
Is Icebreaker merino clothing available at Paddy Pallin?
Merino clothing is perfect for all types of outdoor activities. Known as nature’s ‘miracle fibre’ the merino wool used in all Icebreaker garments has amazing moisture wicking and temperature regulation characteristics. Merino will keep you warm when it’s cold and cool when the temps rise. Merino fibre is also naturally anti-stink, due to its natural resistance to bacterial growth. This makes merino garments ideal for longer trips, where you might need to wear a garment for multiple days without washing. Did we mention that the icebreaker range also looks fabulous and is available in stunning colours!
Can I buy thermals for women at Paddy Pallin?
Thermals, or what we like to refer to as your ‘base layer’ form the foundation of an outdoor clothing layering system. This next-to-skin layer is vital for taking care of moisture management (wicking) and to help regulate your body's core temperature throughout the day. Our range of thermals for women includes Icebreaker merino base layers, along with several synthetic-based options from Arc’teryx and 360 Degrees.
What are some pros and cons of synthetic versus merino?
Both synthetic and merino based fabrics are well suited to active outdoor use. Typically people will find merino fabrics to be a little warmer and slower to dry. They’re also anti-stink which makes merino garments ideal for prolonged use. In comparison, synthetics will typically be a bit lighter, faster drying and cheaper than an equivalent merino garment.
Does Paddy Pallin stock fleece jackets, hoodies and pull-overs?
Fleece tops have long been a staple outdoor layer. Traditionally made from synthetics, a fleece garment is usually used as a mid-layer. They’re warm, soft and a highly versatile layer for all types of outdoor activities and travel. Our range of women's fleece tops includes full-zip jackets, hoodies and half-zip pullovers.
Does Paddy Pallin sell women's shirts with insect protection?
Nobody likes getting attacked by pesky biting insects when they’re hiking, camping and spending time outdoors. Wearing a hiking shirt with an insect-repelling treatment can be a great way to help keep protected. Several of our long sleeve shirts for women have this feature including the Royal Robbins Bug Barrier Expedition LS Shirt and the ExOfficio Bugsaway range of shirts.
Can I try on the clothing at Paddy Pallin?
All Paddy Pallin stores have fitting rooms and we actively encourage customers to try on clothing before they purchase. From experience, we know that sizing varies between brands and styles too. If you’re buying clothing that is intended to be worn over or under other layers, we’d suggest trying this out in store, to ensure the layers fit well when worn together.
Does Paddy Pallin sell moisture wicking hiking shirts and tops?
One of the most crucial functions of outdoor clothing is its ability to wick moisture away from your skin. Be it from sweat or rain, any moisture that against your skin will quickly lead to your bodies core temperature dropping. Almost all of our range of women's tops, base layers and underwear are constructed from moisture wicking fabrics. Predominantly this will be using various merino wool and synthetic blends.
